Free PrestaShop sale countdown timer
Concepty Promo Countdown displays how much time remains before a dated PrestaShop product discount ends. It uses an existing, applicable product-specific price reduction and its end date to show days, hours, minutes and seconds. There is no separate countdown date to enter in module settings.
The module is designed to communicate a genuine promotional deadline. If the product has no applicable dated reduction, there is no countdown. It does not create discounts or generate artificial urgency.
Countdown displayed below the product price
On product detail pages, the countdown appears directly below the price through PrestaShop's displayProductPriceBlock hook, using the after_price position. Customers can view the discounted price and the promotion deadline close together. Our screenshots show the placement on a PrestaShop 9.2.0 store; custom themes may render the same hook differently.
Optional product listing countdowns
An independent switch enables a smaller timer on product cards in category pages, search results and other compatible listings. This setting is off by default. You can show the countdown on product pages, in listings or both, independently.
Uses native dated product discounts
The module checks the reduction applicable to the current visitor. It reads the product pricing information provided by PrestaShop and can fall back to the native specific-price API. A valid, positive, currently applicable discount with a future end date triggers a timer; a permanent discount, a missing date or an expired offer does not.
Cart vouchers and other types of discount rules may not provide the dated, product-specific reduction required by this module. The module never changes the store price: all promotional prices remain under PrestaShop's control.
Simple administration settings
- Enable or disable the countdown on product detail pages.
- Enable or disable the compact countdown in product listings.
- Set an introductory message per store language.
- Choose an accent colour for the countdown block.
There is no need to manually select products, create a new date for each promotion or edit theme files in normal circumstances. The block uses a responsive layout intended for desktop and mobile screens.
Who is this module for?
The timer can make a real deadline more visible during flash sales, seasonal campaigns and short-running product offers. It helps visitors understand the validity period of a discount; it does not guarantee more sales or replace PrestaShop's promotion management.
How to install
1. Download conceptypromocountdown-1.0.0.zip.
2. Open Modules > Module Manager in your PrestaShop back office.
3. Upload and install the module, then select Configure.
4. Choose where to display countdowns, and optionally adjust the message and accent colour.
5. Create an applicable dated specific-price reduction on a test product.
6. Visit that product in the storefront to check the countdown below its price.
No manual SQL import is required on the store. The separate SQL file in the Concepty publication package only creates this listing on the Concepty website.
Compatibility and technical considerations
Module version: 1.0.0. Its actual screenshots were captured on PrestaShop 9.2.0, so this listing indicates PrestaShop 9.X without implying that every minor version and theme has been tested. The code declares a target range including PrestaShop 8 and 9; test unverified store versions and themes before production.
Display relies on your theme's price hook. If you use custom pricing, product combinations, AJAX reloading, group-based pricing or aggressive caching, verify the countdown and the actual discount together. The countdown is hidden when the deadline passes, while PrestaShop remains responsible for refreshing the price itself.
Frequently asked questions
Do I enter the deadline in module settings?
No. The timer uses the product discount end date already stored in PrestaShop.
Can I enable the timer only on product pages?
Yes. Product page and listing display have independent settings. Listing display is disabled by default.
Does the countdown disappear when it reaches zero?
Yes. The timer is hidden at the end of the offer, and expired dates no longer produce a new timer.
Does it work with all discount vouchers?
Not necessarily. It needs an applicable dated product-specific reduction. Cart vouchers may not trigger it.
Can I customize the colour and text?
Yes. The back office lets you choose an accent colour and edit the introductory text for each configured language.
