Module description
Simple Statistics is a lightweight and free WordPress plugin to view the essential metrics for your website, with no external analytics platform. Your estimated daily visits, page views, traffic chart and most-viewed pages are available right inside the WordPress admin dashboard.
What is included?
- Estimated visits today, yesterday, over 7 days and over 30 days.
- Page views for the same periods.
- Traffic charts for 7, 30 or 90 days.
- Top 10 viewed pages over the last 30 days.
- Daily summary widget and an admin toolbar counter.
Local, privacy-minded website analytics
The plugin does not store visitor IP addresses, does not set analytics cookies, and does not send analytics to a third-party service. Only aggregated counters are stored in the website's WordPress database. A temporary sessionStorage flag in the browser is used to estimate visits without sending a permanent visitor identifier.
An estimated visit is not a unique visitor: the metric is based on browser-tab sessions per day and will not be perfectly precise. The plugin does not track individual browsing histories. Aggregated statistics are kept without automatic age-based deletion while the plugin remains installed; uninstalling it removes the statistics tables. Your hosting provider may separately maintain its own server logs, and site-specific privacy obligations still apply.
Easy WordPress installation
Download the ZIP, go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin in WordPress, then activate it. The plugin starts collecting aggregated statistics for new visits, without requiring an external account. It does not recreate older traffic data.
Version 1.0.0 declares WordPress 6.0+ and PHP 7.4+ as minimum requirements; test with your actual installation.
